Spring Technology

All three trampolines use springless technology, but with fundamentally different approaches:

• Springfree: Uses fibreglass rods instead of traditional springs. These flexible rods are positioned beneath the jumping surface.
• Vuly Thunder 2 and Thunder 2 Pro: Use leaf spring technology, which are metal strips that flex and bend to provide bounce.

The Thunder 2 Pro specifically features full-length leaf springs, which Vuly claims provides a smoother and safer bounce compared to the standard leaf springs in the Thunder 2.

Safety Features

Safety is a priority for both manufacturers:

• All three models feature curved safety net poles to keep jumpers away from the frame
• All three use superfine mesh in their safety nets
• All models place their "springs" external to the jumping area to prevent injuries
• All three trampolines comply with Australian safety standard AS 4989:2015
• Vuly Thunder 2 and Thunder 2 Pro additionally comply with European safety standards

One key difference is in the entry system. Both Vuly models feature a self-closing entry with full-length access, while Springfree uses a zip closure system. We prefer the self-closing entries as trampoline zips can eventually break with prolonged use and exposure to the elements.

Both Thunder 2 models feature more flexible net poles than previous versions, designed to withstand greater force without damage. They also offer a new, stronger anchor kit that is reportedly five times stronger than previous versions.

When comparing safety nets, Vuly has told us their competitor has "Bigger holes in spring-free nets which can be a safety hazard," though this would need independent verification.

Frame Construction and Durability

All three trampolines feature galvanised steel frames designed to withstand outdoor conditions, along with powder coating for additional protection.

However, our expert considers Springfree frames to be "the longest-lasting trampoline frame on the market," praised for their ability to endure the elements.

Warranty Coverage

The warranty terms show some significant differences:

Springfree:

• 10 years on frame
• 10 years on springs (fibreglass rods) and mat
• 10 years on safety net and pads

Vuly Thunder 2 and Thunder 2 Pro:

• 10 years on frame
• 5 years on springs and mat
• 1 year on safety net and pads

When we asked Vuly about the difference in warranty periods compared to Springfree's 10-year warranty, they stated: "Springfree warranty is not as lenient as ours. It only covers manufacturing defects, not wear and tear nor UV damage on the fibreglass springs so a lot of the time they would not cover the cost of springs as manufacturing defects are normally found when assembling the trampoline."

Vuly also noted they "cover a lot of springs outside of the warranty period as a gesture of goodwill."
